Busy as Dick’s: Garlic, Labels, Boxes & a Whole Lotta Hustle
It’s planting season here at Dick’s Stinkin’ Good Garlic, and if you’ve ever wondered what farm life looks like when you’re trying to grow a stinkin’ empire—here’s the snapshot: we’re up to our eyeballs in garlic cloves, boxes, labels, mesh bags, and a healthy dose of caffeine. Fall isn’t just planting time… it’s all hands on deck time.
🧄 Garlic First, Always
We’re in Zone 5b, which means October is prime time to get those cloves in the ground. The fields are prepped, mulch is ready, and the tractor’s had more miles this week than my truck. Every clove we plant now is next summer’s Big Bulb Energy.
- Plant window: mid–late October (before the ground freezes)
- Spacing: 4–6" between cloves, 12–18" between rows
- Mulch: 4–6" clean straw for winter protection
🏷️ New Labels & Packaging
While the garlic’s going in, we’re also making every order look sharp:
- Fresh shaker labels for our seasonings
- New cardboard boxes with the Dick’s logo front & center
- Upgraded tops for mesh bags
- Flyers in every order so folks know who grew that stinkin’ good garlic
📦 Every Order Tells a Story
When someone gets a box from Dick’s, we want it to feel like it came straight from the farm (because it did). From the earthy cloves to the labels, everything is designed, packed, and shipped by a small Midwest crew that works harder than a Kubota in clay soil.
💪 The Best Kind of Busy
Yeah, we’re tired—the kind of tired that comes from long days, dirty boots, and late nights at the label printer. But it’s the best kind of tired—the kind that builds something real. If you don’t hear from us for a day or two, we’re not ignoring you… we’re just out here being busy as Dick’s.
Pro Tip from Dick’s Tractor Seat: “Get your garlic in the ground before Halloween, and you’ll be eating like a king by summer.”
